Abstract

A river is a natural water course, usually freshwater, flowing downhill from river source to river mouth. River course change is natural phenomenon which takes place during flood occurrence. Bosnia and Herzegovina has substantial water resources and water could in the future become one of the cornerstones of general economic development in many areas. Sustainable development in water management is only possible with the implementation of integrated water resource management principles, common problem solving in the main water management segments, especially in exploitation, water protection and water protection from harmful effects. In this paper, we focused on the river course detection of Bosna river in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this paper, an approach for detecting changes in river flow using two ortophoto images is presented. The orthophoto images were taken in 2008 and 2012. A general and coherent increase in Bosna river flows has been detected.
