Abstract
In the present chapter, we shall present the method of double-time Green’s temperature-dependent functions (retarded and advanced). * This method is widely used in statistical mechanics, because it is an effective means of calculating the observable macroscopic properties of a system as well as the microscopic quantities (for example, the energy and lifetime of elementary excitations). The Green’s function method is also convenient in the calculation of transport coefficients, such as the electrical conductivity, susceptibility, etc. The results obtained are applicable to a wide range of temperatures. We shall give below the basic information about Green’s functions, and we shall develop the mathematical apparatus necessary for the solving of actual problems.
