Abstract
Amoxicillin, an analogue of ampicillin, is a semisynthetic antibiotic with essentially the same broad spectrum of bacteriocidal activity as ampicillin against many gram-positive and certain gram-negative microorganisms. Like ampicillin, this drug is susceptible to destruction by penicillinase. It is stable in the presence of gastric acid and may be given without regard to meals. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration.
