Abstract
The functions of the mature nervous system are determined by the organization of neural circuits. The development of neural connectivity has been the focus of intense research, and a strong body of coherent knowledge has accumulated over the past decades (Easter et al., 1988; Jacobson, 1991; Purves and Lichtman, 1985).
