Abstract
This chapter concerns important “exaggerations” of lysosomal function observed in specialized cell types or in particular developmental or pathological states. Cases will be considered in which the contents of lysosomes are released in quantity from cells or within cells, or in which lysosomal accumulations build up as a consequence of the failure of digestion.
