Protecting Infants through Human Milk

Abstract

The importance of human milk as the best and only food for infants under 6 months of age has a worldwide consensus, as has the value of promoting breastfeeding as a basic food beyond six months of age when infants also should receive adequate complementary feedings (WHO 1986). The purpose of this study was to identify food taboos of nursing women who participate in a breastfeeding support program.
