Abstract
In the previous chapter we considered the analysis of an important electromagnetic problem that results in a one-dimensional mathematical model, where the solution was discussed within the framework of Sturm—Liouville theory. It was shown that a generally terminated transmission line leads to a nonself-adjoint problem due to the boundary conditions imposed at the terminating impedances. For certain special terminations the problem is self-adjoint, regardless of the presence or absence of loss on the line.
