Abstract
Alcohol is one of the most commonly misused substances, with abuse and dependence creating serious medical and psychological difficulties. This chapter presents an overview of emergency problems, and there is an extensive discussion of rehabilitation in chapter 15. A great deal of background material has already been put forth in chapter 3.
