Abstract
In the previous chapter, the notion of an assertion in a sequential program has been introduced, and we have seen how sequential programs can be annotated with assertions in such a way that the annotation precisely reflects our proof obligations. We have also seen how this effectively protects us against operational reasoning, and how it aids in coming to firm grips with sequential programs. All these virtues become even more important now that we are on the verge of taking multiprograms into account, i.e. entire sets of cooperating sequential programs to be executed simultaneously.
