Abstract
Parents often wrestle with the behavior problems of their children, with varying degrees of success and failure. Parents usually deal with such problems adequately, either by themselves or with the help of other family members or friends. But when they feel stuck in their attempts to resolve their child-related difficulties, parents often turn to a professional, primarily their physician, for help (1). Many times the primary care physician can provide the necessary help (2), but some parent concerns, as will be discussed later, require referral to a family therapist or other mental health professional.
