Abstract
It is worth while to consider separately finite fields which exhibit some very interesting features. We preferred to do Galois theory in characteristic 0 first, in order not to obscure the basic ideas by the special phenomena which can occur when finite fields are involved. On the other hand, finite fields occur so frequently that we now deal with them more systematically.
