Abstract
Current semantic analysis of questions reduces them to assertions by letting questions denote the sets of their true or possible direct answers. Though there is some discussion of what is involved in providing an answer which would satisfy the questioner, it seems rather surprizing that a discussion of answering and its relation to asserting is, in general, lacking.
