Abstract
In pesticide manufacture and usage, human exposure is minimized at every stage. The need to monitor this is the main impetus to the study of pesticide metabolism in man. That of selected pesticides, initially in animals, has been studied as part of industrial hygiene research programmes to indicate the most suitable analytical methods for monitoring exposure. These typically entail GC-ECD, and their development is in general based on a common major urinary metabolite or on the pesticide itself. Dose-excretion studies enable assays to be made on manufacturing operatives, formulators and sprayers.
