Abstract

The invariance of the magnetic moment is very important in the theory of magnetic plasma containment. It presents the possibility of preventing particle loss along the magnetic field. A device that uses this principle is called an adiabatic magnetic trap. A schematic diagram of such a trap is shown in Fig. 15.
