Abstract
This paper deals with an important aspect of adaptation to the northern environment, the temporal synchronization of populations with seasons, i.e., phenology of Drosophila species. Winter dormancy is the main synchronizer in northern areas. Extensive reviews of this subject do not contain any information on Drosophila (e.g., Lees, 1955; Danilevskii, 1965; Beck, 1968; Danilevsky et al., 1970).
