Abstract
Estrogen treatment followed by progesterone can induce behavioral sexual receptivity in ovariectomized female rodents (Beach, 1948; Young, 1961). In fact, estrogenic facilitation of female reproductive behavior has been found in a wide variety of vertebrate species (Crews and Silver, 1980; Kelley and Pfaff, 1978).
