Abstract
The present chapter describes the essential features of the token economy and details examples of specific programs in different settings. There are relatively few essential features of a token economy. Yet, several program variations, options, and ancillary procedures are used so that token economies vary considerably in their characteristics. Program variations and options frequently used in token economies and evidence pertaining to their effects on client behavior are also reviewed.
