Abstract
One of the most interesting properties of Coulomb systems is the absorption spectrum. Particularly, spectral lines are important characteristics which are used in plasma diagnostics. A theoretical approach to the optical properties is necessary to relate the line shape to the microscopic interaction processes and, in consequence, to diagnose the density and temperature of the plasma from measured line profiles.
