Abstract

The electronic decay spectra of neutral and ionic core hole excited states in free and chemisorbed molecules are discussed. A detailed analysis of these spectra reveals the static and dynamic charge distributions and rearrangements around the atomic center where the core hole was created.

Lecture given at the NATO Advanced Science Institute on ‘X-ray Spectroscopy in Atomic and Solid State Physics’, Vimeiro, Portugal, August 30 – September 12, 1987.
