Abstract
In this chapter we make a preliminary investigation of the weak law of large numbers as it pertains to strongly additive arithmetic functions f(n) when unbounded renormalisations are allowed. Besides being of interest in their own right, several of the results which we prove will be useful in the following two chapters.
