Abstract

Epidemiologic methods may be applied to elucidation of slow virus infections. In the aims of the Workshop, the organizers have written “it seems to us that a considered effort, perhaps more prosaic than that which characterizes studies in the recent past, must now be made.” I cannot suggest any new ways in which epidemiologic methods can be applied in this field, but it does seem to me that epidemiology is one of the fields that deserve increased attention here, perhaps in a more prosaic but also in a more systematic way than in the past.
