Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 64))

Abstract

Much of the work of landscape ecologists starts from the notion that landscape is a collection of discrete sites and that by proper planning and management these sites can accomplish important societal tasks, continue to perform vital natural functions, and in general enhance the enjoyment and dignity of present and future generations.
