Abstract
The water reclamation plant in Windhoek (South West Africa/Namibia) represents a milestone in water reuse technology (Figure 9.1). Prompted by water shortage, the plant was commissioned in 1969 as the first, and to date probably still the only, plant in the world which directly reclaims drinking water from wastewater for the supplementation of a city’s drinking water supply (Stander and Clayton, 1977).
