Abstract
In this chapter we examine various aspects of SDC for microdata sets. These aspects could play a role in case a data disseminator would like to develop a systematic data dissemination policy, including types of data to be disseminated and general SDC rules defining what conditions a safe type of data would have to satisfy. The aim is not so much to advocate particular SDC rules, complete with choices for parameter values, but rather to point at various aspects that have to be taken into account. Therefore there is first a discussion of relevant aspects, followed by two concrete examples of SDC rules to give the discussion a focus. The rules shown here are derived from those that Statistics Netherlands currently uses, be it that the choices of the parameter values may be different. Not only the example SDC rules are strongly inspired by the current practice at Statistics Netherlands; the same holds true for the entire chapter. A description of the contents of the remainder of the present chapter follows.
