Abstract
The chapters that follow will review the physiological, methodological, and theoretical aspects of spatial contrast sensitivity and glare disability in normal observers and in those with ocular and retroocular diseases. In this chapter we will consider the general state of the art and will try to place the utility of contrast sensitivity and glare disability testing in context for the clinician on the basis of both empirical and practical considerations.
