Abstract

The first part of this chapter depicts the medical setting in which the infants in our study were treated. We describe the physical environment of the NICU and the roles of the physicians, nurses, and parents. The second part reviews the literature on the development of infants who are typically treated on NICUs. In the last part, we summarize the methods and procedures of our study.
