Abstract
In this chapter we discuss TEX’s capabilities of reading from files and writing to files. Reading from files can be done in two different ways: a whole file can be read in using \input or a file can be read on a line-by-line basis using \read. A variety of macros relating to\input will be discussed such as macro \InputD which prevents a macro source file being read-in more than once. The chapter after this one continues the discussion with more on input and output such as writing table of contents and index files.
