Abstract
Laparoscopic surgery continues to provide new modalities to the repertoire of the general surgeon. Unfortunately, we do not yet have full knowledge regarding the physiology associated with the application of the laparoscope in general surgery. This chapter outlines the current state of knowledge regarding the physiology of laparoscopy.
