Abstract
This chapter draws some basic outlines of the way in which menstruation is dealt with in this society. When and where do women and men speak about menstruation? Who may raise the topic? More to the point, who may not? I will discuss the extent to which our attitudes can be seen as pollution beliefs, and will put forward the notion of an etiquette of menstruation.
