Abstract
This chapter seeks to compare and contrast the recent (1982–5) adjustment crisis in Peru with the preceding crisis, and attempts to delineate the changing nature of the problem, in regard to both its internal and external components. It is a sequel to a previous work, and seeks to re-evaluate the conclusions and analysis of the earlier study, completed in August 1978, in the light of subsequent changes in the international scene and in the domestic economy.
