Zusammenfassung
Muskelrelaxanzien sind Substanzen, die eine reversible Lähmung der Skelettmuskulatur bewirken. Ihre Anwendung erfolgt in der Anästhesie und Notfallmedizin vor allem, um die endotracheale Intubation zu ermöglichen und um bei bestimmten Operationen eine vollständige Erschlaffung der Muskulatur zur Verbesserung der Operationsbedingungen zu erzielen. In deutlich geringem Maße werden Muskelrelaxanzien in der Intensivmedizin eingesetzt, um die Beatmung zu erleichtern und bei Bedarf eine völlig Ruhigstellung des Patienten zu erzielen.
