Zusammenfassung
Die präoperative anästhesiologische Vorbereitung des Patienten für einen operativen Eingriff liegt in der Verantwortung des Anästhesisten und besteht aus mehreren Bausteinen: der präoperativen Diagnostik, der Aufklärung und der Planung des perioperativen Vorgehens. Der Zweck präoperativer Diagnostik ist die Definition des individuellen Risikos und die Optimierung des angestrebten operativen und anästhesiologischen Verfahrens. Die perioperative Mortalität soll durch möglicherweise einzuleitende Maßnahmen gesenkt, der Gesundheitszustand des Patienten gegebenenfalls verbessert werden. Präoperative Untersuchungen dienen der Entdeckung oder Identifikation von Erkrankungen, die möglicherweise das perioperative anästhesiologische Vorgehen beeinflussen. Desgleichen müssen der Schweregrad einer bekannten Erkrankung oder Einschränkung in ihrem Ausmaß abgeschätzt und damit ihre perioperative Relevanz bestimmt werden. Evtl. notwendige spezielle Vorgehensweisen sollten im Vorfeld geplant werden.
