Abstract

The German venture capital industry is the second largest in Europe, secondarily to the UK. This study gives an overview of the development of German venture capital companies over the past 6 years. The paper presents one of the largest samples of German venture capital companies, combined from several sources and research activities. The variables that have been taken into account: geographical location, stage of investment, years of market experience, business model, initiator of the venture capital companies and type of fund. Finally we look at the performance of different types of venture capital companies.
