Abstract
Potenzialreiche junge Unternehmen zielen auf die Entdeckung und Ausschöpfung von Innovationen ab. Dies umfasst nichts anderes als eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit Marktentwicklungen, Kundenbedürfnissen sowie neuen Verfahren und Technologien. Die Erforschung von Erfolgsfaktoren suggeriert, es sei möglich, in diese weitgehend unstrukturierte Beschäftigung mit dem „Neuen“ Ordnung zu bringen und Wege zum Erfolg aufzuzeigen. Dies erklärt die große Anziehungskraft darauf gerichteter Studien. In den meisten Fällen präsentieren Erfolgsfaktorenforscher statistisch gut fundierte Ergebnisse und enden mit der Aussage, sie hätten wesentliche Faktoren aufgedeckt. So überzeugend solche Studien für sich genommen jeweils sind, so heterogen und ernüchternd ist eine Zusammenschau mehrerer Studien. Dieses Ergebnis ist für das Gebiet des Strategischen Managements gut belegt. Der vorliegende Beitrag setzt daran an und begründet, dass vor allem die typische induktive Vorgehensweise eine Erforschung von Erfolgsfaktoren junger Unternehmen begrenzt. Dies lässt sich anhand zahlreicher Studien eindrucksvoll zeigen. Um nicht auf der Ebene bloßer Kritik stehen zu bleiben, werden in diesem Beitrag auch die verbleibenden Möglichkeiten einer Formulierung von Erfolgsfaktoren junger Unternehmen skizziert.
