Abstract
This chapter describes methods for the simulation and the design of complex signal processing systems with SystemC. The design starts with a block diagram which can be simulated in SystemC. Refinement steps transform the block diagram to a more detailed description. In the detailed description the execution of functional blocks is controlled by methods which explicitly determine step widths. Furthermore, ports, for example clock and enable ports, are added. The refinement permits the efficient interactive exploration of the design space of mixed-signal systems.
