Abstract
Characteristic features and modern trends in the biocatalytic synthesis of chiral compounds have been discussed. New processes of biocatalytic synthesis use at least two enzymes. Whole cells of recombinant strains are utilized as biocatalysts, and the complete set of target enzymes can be expressed in a single cell.
