Abstract
The emergence of multidrug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is posing a problem worldwide, indicating a need for renewed efforts in drug development. Researchers at the Global Conference on Lung Health [Mainz, Germany; June 1994] described the potential of new drugs currently in preclinical development, and the possibility of speeding up recovery using a killed Mycobacterium vaccae preparation.
