Rosenberger has presented new connectors based on the High-speed Implement Bus (HSI) that have been designed specifically for outdoor conditions. The system has been standardized in a cooperation with the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation and is said to enable robust power and data transfer under harsh conditions. As a break-away connection, it will be waterproof according to IPX9K and UV-resistant with a flame-retardant housing. Up to 48 V will be possible, depending on the cable parameters. It also offers SI/EMC performance for 1000BASE-T1, different timing of power and data pins, and more than 3000 mating cycles, the company says. Agricultural applications include monitoring systems, data systems for consumption, seed or fertilizer optimization, GPS coordinates, as well as level and tonnage measurements. It can also be used in construction machinery, cranes, and trucks.
