Abstract
We demonstrate a resonantly-pumped electro-optically Q-switched Ho:GdVO4 laser with an LGS crystal. In the continuous-wave mode, with an absorbed pump power of 15 W, the Ho:GdVO4 laser delivers a maximum output power of 6.2 W and a slope efficiency of 60.0%. With a pulse repetition frequency of 10 kHz, the electro-optically Q-switched Ho:GdVO4 laser produces a maximum average output power of 4.7 W. At a pulse repetition frequency of 5 kHz, the electro-optically Q-switched Ho:GdVO4 laser reaches a maximum pulse energy of 0.9 mJ and a minimum pulse width of 4.6 ns, providing a peak power as high as 190.9 kW.
