Abstract
We discuss the ion-ion recombination of positive metal ions and negative oxygen ion in a pulsed gas discharge for realization of the pulsed inversion population mechanism. The metal atom energy levels most populated in this process are estimated. The energy level diagrams with probable transitions for several metal atoms are presented.
