Abstract.
Colloidal nanocrystal based organic solar cells are envisaged to be a cost effective alternative to conventional inorganic cells. A variety of studies have been reported recently with the goal to increases energy conversion efficiencies, which must be pushed towards 10% for devices to be practical. We review the status of this work, critically examining the factors affecting hybrid solar cell performance, and conclude with an outlook for future directions of research.
