Abstract
Photo-bleaching phenomena occurring in chlorophyll-a were analysed by irradiation with UV and visible-spectrum sources. A mathematical formalism was developed to quantify the optical spatio-temporal properties of the irradiated solutions. We also measured the spatio-temporal changes of the optical response in photo-excited solutions. An empirical expression for the reaction rate was obtained and the model used to quantify and understand the experimental bleaching results.
