Abstract

This paper describes the developments of the lead blast furnace at The Broken Hill Associated Smelters Pty., Ltd., from the original standard furnace to the present wide shaft type, with two superimposed rows of tuyeres. The metallurgical operations of the blast furnace section of the Port Pirie Works are also described.
