Abstract
This study fundamentally clarifies the effect of strength mismatch, which can elevate plastic constraint due to heterogeneous plastic straining under static loading, on critical conditions for ductile cracking from the notch root. The critical condition for initiating ductile crack from the notch root for strength mismatched bend specimens under static loading is almost the same as that for homogeneous tensile specimens with a circumferential sharp notch under static loading.
