Abstract

Reduction of CO2 emissions is the major driver for new technologies. ZF develops a new eight-speed transmission with the target to increase fuel economy by 6% while retaining the shifting dynamics of the 6HP-Lepelletier gear set system. The model range of the 8HP family covers the torque range from 300 Nm to 1000 Nm. The 8HP70 transmission is laid out for engine torques up to 700 Nm. It is based on a gear set system with five shift elements and four planetary gear sets. The total gear spread is 7.05.
