Abstract

The 42 V debate has prompted AFL to think about future electrical systems and effective energy management. As early as in 2000, together with Audi, design targets for electrical system management were defined. Departing from the industry focus on hybrid but inflexible 42/14V systems, AFL has developed solutions for a flexible, demand-responsive voltage supply. This so-called micro-hybrid power management strategy allows a higher system voltage at lower costs
