Temperature-sensitive properties of gold and gold alloy electrodeposits

Abstract

The electronics industry demands highly reliable components while economic considerations require the use of mass production techniques for their manufacture. These two, perhaps divergent, factors are most likely to be satisfied when the properties of the many materials used are fully established and generally known. This paper reviews the effects of heat treatment on the surface features and mechanical properties of fine gold, gold-cobalt and gold-nickel electrodeposits and provides some interesting information on the magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity of gold-cobalt deposits.
