Conclusion
La capsule endoscopique est une technologie innovante qui n’est qu’au début de son histoire. Elle constitue un progrès réel pour le diagnostic des maladies de l’intestin grêle. Cependant des études de validation sont nécessaires pour essayer de cerner son champ d’application par comparaison aux autres méthodes endoscopiques et à l’exploration radiologique (entéro-scanner, IRM) qui bénéficie d’un développement constant. Le développement de cette nouvelle technique repousse les limites de l’exploration endoscopique du tractus digestif. Comme le disait J.D. Waye dans un article récent [29]: «On peut considérer que l’intestin grêle n’est plus la boîte noire» car jusqu’à présent l’intestin grêle restait pour l’endoscopiste «la dernière frontière» [1].
Enfin, signalons qu’une demande de TIPS est actuellement en cours en France et qu’actuellement aux USA, l’examen réalisé par la capsule est remboursé dans une dizaine d’Etats depuis le mois de juillet par différents systèmes d’assurance maladie.
