Cytology of the colon in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer

Résumé

La technique de cytologie exfoliatrice du côlon par lavage intestinal au moyen de la machine de Henderson, permet à l’auteur une efficacité diagnostique de 94% dans une série de 46 patients.

Ces résultats montrent la contribution efficace de la méthode appliquée au diagnostic de cancer colo-rectal. Cette technique est située par rapport aux autres moyens de dépistage du cancer précoce, hémoccult, lavement baryté en double contraste, fibroscopie colique. Elle s’avère tout à fait complémentaire plutôt que compétitive.

Summary

The technique of colonic exfoliative cytology, with colonic lavage by the Henderson machine, gives an efficiency in diagnosis of 94% in a series of 46 patients.

These results show the efficiency of the method when applied to the early diagnosis of colorectal cancers. This technique is compared to the other means of detecting early cancers, hemoccult, barium enema washing with air contrast, fibercoloscopy, and it proves to be more additional than competitive.
