Summary
The pathological report of gastrointestinal lymphoma should include first, a sure diagnosis of lymphoma; second, the histological type and grade of malignancy of this lymphoma, finally histo-prognostic factors, when a surgical specimen is available. In the course of the patient’s clinical follow up, the pathologist must mention a possible recurrence or persistence of lymphoma by immunohistochemistry and molecular biology (PCR), which will detect a gene rearrangement identical to that of primitive lymphoma. The quality of the specimen (size, number and preparation ie frozen and formalin-fixed tissue) has an impact on the quality of the pathological report.
